Topic 12                     Adjectives
Adjectives are words we use to describe people, animals, things, events and places.  The following words are adjectives.
     bad           good                       sad          happy           
     beautiful    ugly                        tall           short
     blunt         sharp                      narrow      wide 
     clean         dirty                       ill              well
     dry            wet                        fine           rainy
     thick          thin                        fast           slow
     fat             thin                        many         few
     fresh          stale                      kind            cruel
     heavy        light                        soft            loud
     hot            cold                        cheap         expensive            
     hungry       full                         small           big
     long          short                       naughty       well-behaved
     muddy      clear                        neat            untidy
     noisy         quiet                       near            far
There are two main types of adjectives ---- predicative and attributive
A)  Predicative Adjective                                                            

A predicative adjective comes after Verb-to-be and linking verb.     
     After Verb-to-be      
               am / is / are / was /were             

    After linking verb
appear, become, fall, feel, get, keep, look, seem, smell, sound, stay, taste
       The children are noisy.
        He looks happy every day.    (BUT – He looks at us happily.  (verb))
        The food smells nice.

B)  Attributive Adjectives
         Before a noun
Many adjectives are both predicative and attributive.  But some are
attributive only.
          He is hardworking.          (predicative)
          He is a hardworking boy.  (attributive)

An attributive adjective is an adjective used directly before a noun.
          Possessive Adjective ( P2 )      my book
          Articles ----- a / an / the          a hamster  
          Demonstrative Pronouns  ----- this /that /these /those
