Topic 7



Topic 7                 Simple Past Tense      (F3)   (+)(-)(?)
We use the Simple Past to show a Fact or a Habit in the past.  We always use F3 of the Verb.  This tense is usually used with the past time expressions.

The time expressions:
          just now
          this morning
          yesterday / yesterday morning / afternoon / evening   (yesterday)
          last night / Wednesday / week / month / year             (last)
          a few seconds / minutes /hours / days ago                  (ago)
When you see such time expressions as ‘yesterday /last / ago’, you use F3
Verb Patterns
A.  Verb-to-be

The past form of ‘do / does’  -----------------------à ‘did’

     [Wendy] fell off from her bicycle yesterday.
     Did [she] fall off from her bicycle yesterday?                     
     When ‘do / does / did’ is used, it is always followed by a root verb (20)
