Topic 4                Simple Present Tense   (Question ?)

A.  Verb-to-be    (state of being)
     [S] am / is / are  -------------------------------- (+)                
     Am / Is / Are [S] --------------------------------  (?)

To turn a positive statement with ‘am /is /are’ as verbs into a question, we just put ‘am / is / are’ before the Subject [S].  ‘S’ stands for the persons in P1 in Personal Pronouns.

B.  Ordinary Verb      (showing action)
     [He /She /It]  F1 + s / es  --------------------------- (+)  
     Does [ he /she /it]   F1  -------------------------------(?)

     [I /We /You /You /They] F1  --------------------------(+)
     Do [ I /we /you /you /they] F1  ---------------------- (?)

When the subject can be replaced by [he /she /it], we just put ‘Does’ before the subject and the root verb after it to form a question.)
When the subject can be replaced by [I /we /you /you / they], we put ‘Do’ before the subject and the root verb after it to form a question.

     [I] am hardworking.
     Am [I] hardworking?

     [John] is angry now.
     Is [John] angry now?

     [You] are busy.
     Are [you] busy?

     (Always use F1 when we use ‘do / does’.)
