Topic 19



Topic 19       Overview of Simple Present and Simple Past    (+)(-)(?)
We use the Simple Present Tense to show:  (in the present)
                           a Fact
                           a Habit
                     and a General Truth  (remain the same at all times)
We use the Simple Past Tense to show:        (in the past)
                           a Fact   
                           a Habit                                                                                                           

A)  Verb-to-be
     We can use Verb-to-be to show the state of being.
      a)  Positive Statement  (+)
                        am

     b)  Negative Statement ( - )
                        am
          [S]          is              was          not ---------------------.
                        are            were          
In Negative Statement, just place ‘not’ after Verb-to-be.
      
      c)  Interrogative     (?)

In Questions, just place Verb-to-be before the Subject [S].

      an action.

In the Simple Past Tense, we use F3 only regardless of the Subject [S].
